According to an article in UP Magazine from WestJet Airlines, Costa Rica is the capital of adventure tourism in Central America. The article highlights eight tourist activities that can be done in the tropical jungle of Costa Rica, and invites tourists to vacation in a place of cloud forests, volcanoes, crocodiles, coffee and abundant wildlife.
The author recommends visiting the country in the rainy season, a time when sloths can be seen dangling from the trees and colorful birds are flying in the skies. The eight recommended adventures are said to echo the national slogan, “Pura Vida” or “pure life.”
Top of the list is the River Tour on the Peñas Blancas River by Arenal Volcano. On this adventure, while floating downriver, you can see three-toed sloths, herons, toucans, and other animals. The second activity noted is Canyoneering, an exciting adventure sport involving waterfall rappelling and hiking – also in the Arenal Volcano region.
Other top adventures that tourists must do while visiting Costa Rica include ziplining, hot springs by La Fortuna and Volcano Arenal, observing nesting sea turtles, surfing in Tamarindo, experiencing jungle bliss at the Nayara Hotel by the Arenal Volcano, and a coffee tour at Finca Rosa Blanca in Heredia.
