Arenal

The Northern Plains showcases some of our most scenic countryside and small towns.  Only a two-hour drive from San Jose, small agriculture communities and cattle ranches cover rolling hills and deep valleys.  Known as the heart of Costa Rica, you’ll find a strong cultural identity here.  The plains, rivers and most importantly the people make the north central a must-see in any Costa Rica program.  The main attraction is the Arenal Volcano which is the youngest and most active in Costa Rica.

Manuel Antonio Costa Rica Tours

Manuel Antonio

National Park is perhaps the most visited in Costa Rica.  The picturesque Punta Catedral was once an island off the coast.  Over the years, sedimentation filled in a bar of sand, connecting it to the mainland.

The three primary beaches of the park are Playas Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio and Puerto Escondido Costa Rica.  The mouth of the Rio Naranjo forms the southern border of the park.

Costa Rica Jaco Beach

Jaco

The Carara National Park protects the river basin of the Rio Grande de Tarcoles, near Jaco, Puntarenas, on the Pacific coast.  At this park you can find primary and secondary rainforest, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls.  Birdwatchers are interested in the Carara National Park area because it presents two life zones and a variety of birds, including one of the largest remaining wild populations of scarlet macaw in Costa Rica.

Guanacaste-Costa-Rica

Guanacaste

Guanacaste’s hot, dry climate makes the region a popular escape for those suffering cold winter months in the northern latitudes. Its white-sand coast is often regarded as one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful, and the beaches offer many accommodations. Visitors to the region can take surf lessons and enjoy an active nightlife at the regional hub of Tamarindo; embark on an arduous volcano hike and explore refreshing waterfalls at Rincon de la Vieja National Park; or enjoy a day of relaxation and reading on the glamorous Playa Conchal.

San-Jose-Costa-Rica

Central Valley

The city of San Jose, located in the middle of the country, serves as the main travel hub for exploring Costa Rica.  San Jose offers an impressive range of dining, entertainment and shopping.  The city boasts all the amenities of a large city.  Dining in San Jose can take you from small traditional restaurants to sophisticated French cuisine.  The city´s proximity to several volcanoes, rainforests and cloud forest reserves and national parks makes it the perfect point of departure to any of the Destination Costa Rica day trips.  Excursions can be arranged on a private basis, or by joining our daily fixed departures.

Monteverde-Costa-Rica

Monteverde

The Monteverde Cloud Forest is a private reserve located along the Cordillera de Tilaran mountain range. Named after the nearby town of Monteverde and founded in 1972, the reserve consists of over 10,500 hectares of tropical rainforest (90% is virgin), 6 ecological zones and it is visited by roughly 70,000 visitors a year. An extremely high biodiversity, consisting of over 2,500 plant species, 100 species of mammals, 400 birds species, 120 reptilian and amphibian species, and thousands of insects, has drawn scientists and tourists since.
